キャットボンドのシンセティックCDO

少し前後してしまいますが、11月20日付けのファイナンシャルタイムズに以下のような記事が載っていました。ここ最近、mortality bonds に関する記事を紹介しましたが、こちらは自然災害に関する債券です。いわゆる、Catastrophe bonds （Cat bonds）と呼ばれるものです。

Catlin, the Lloyd's of London insurer, and ABN Amro, the Dutch bank, have invented a new way of offloading extreme risk into international capital markets in a move that could change the way insurance for natural catastrophes and other areas is funded.

The two groups sold late on Friday a deal that bundles together a number of different extreme natural catastrophe risks in a way that allowed them to achieve a higher credit rating than any previous so-called catastrophe bond, which helps to encourage a broader range of investors to buy.

FTのウェブには詳細が載っていません（購読者のみ閲覧可）が、手元のFTによると、Cat bonds のシンセティックCDO（Collateralised Debt Obligation）を組成したようです。これにより、自然災害のリスクをとる債券で過去最高の格付けを取得したとか。

CDOを組成するほどキャットボンドって発行されているのでしょうか。けっこう大変だと思うのですが。

それにしても、どんどん複雑な商品が現れるものですね。
